This Draft Standard specifies definitions and requirements for food-grade lubricants used in lubrication, heat transfer, load transmission, or corrosion protection of machines and equipment in the manufacturing and processing of food and other products. This may include, but is not limited to, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, tobacco, and animal feed, where previous USDA approval was granted. This Draft Standard covers food-grade lubricants previously defined by USDA as H1 and H3 lubricants.
This Draft Standard does not cover evaluation of product performance or operational criteria inside food processing and other facilities.
